Choduraa Tumat is the artistic leader of Tyva Kyzy. Choduraa was born on 17th January 1974, in Iyme village, of Chöön-Khemchik region. She was fond of listening to the khoomei and sygyt performed by her brothers. She is now an accomplished performer of the Tuvan throat-singing styles: khoomei, sygyt, kargyraa, ezenggileer and chylandyk. Choduraa has been performing since 1998. As well as throat-singing, she sings traditional folk songs, plays doshpuluur, igil, byzaanchy, khomus and chadagan. She graduated on Chadagan from the Department of National Instruments, Kyzyl College of Arts (1995) and later from the East-Siberian State Academy, Faculty of Arts in 2002(Ulan-Ude, Buryatia).
She is a Laureate of the International festival "Dembildei - 2002", "Best female performer" nomination in the International festival "Sygyt and khoomei in the land of Övur-2000” and was recognized as “Honorary performer of khoomei in Chöön-Khemchik region” during the Festival of Live music "Üstüü-Khüree-2000".Choduraa teaches at the Pedagogical College of Tuvan State University in Kyzyl, and also at the Children’s Music School named for N. Rusheva, Kyzyl.
